#Fiansrilanka organized a two-day workshop to sensitize Public Health Inspectors on Health Policy, Food Act, Consumer Act updates and Dietary Guidelines, and the practical implementation issues on those. The workshop was held from 27 to 28 May, 2023 at Don’s Lake Resort, Avissawella.This successful event was graced by the following resource persons with their expertise knowledge:• Welcome of the workshop – Mr. Shanaka Bopitiya (Senior Tutor, Secretary of The Public Health Inspectors’ Union of Sri Lanka) • Introduction and Objective of the workshop – Thilak Kariyawasam (Executive Director of FIAN Sri Lanka) • New Nutrition policy of Sri Lanka – Dr. Lakmini Magodarathna – (Director of Nutrition Division, Health Ministry) • Food act and its ongoing update – Dr. Thilak Siriwardana (Acting Director, Food Control Unit of Health Ministry) • Food based Dietary Guideline –Miss. Visaka Thilakarathna • Discussion on Street food Guideline – Mr. Gamunu Saliya Perera – PHI Association, Sri Lanka • Consumer act and its implication issues – Ms. Samantha Karunarathna, Director, Competition Promotion, Consumer Affairs Authority • Food and Drug sector Issues – Mr. Madarasinghe (Retired Assistant Director of Food control Unit, Ministry of Health) • Food and nutrition related Research and Studies – Prof. Nilantha Liyanage (Food Technology Section, Agri faculty, Ruhuna University)The president of the Public Health Inspector’s Union Mr. Upul Rohana also participated in this event.
